People’s Palace consists of ‘People’s Patterns’ & ‘People’s Objects’
This is the second part of People’s Palace, my Final Major Project for MA Design for Art Direction at London College of Communication
People objects contribute a fresh take on items that are part of our everyday life. I pay close attention to the adaptability of patterns on the pulse of modern culture.
‘Gratohn’ set is the modification of traditional Thai spittoon, กระโถน (Gratohn). This product aims to add humour to the deconstruction of their original function.
‘Benja-Lamp’ is a lighting design consists of table light and standing light inspired by ‘benjarong’. The shape of shades and bases mimic the character of Benjarong’s bowl and lid. Benjarong is a traditional kind of design on porcelain wares.
‘The Drums’ is a dining table set consists of ‘Tone Table’ and ‘Ma-oho Stool’ . It was inspired by traditional drums, ‘Tone’ and ‘Mahorateuk’. โทน (Tone) is a traditional drum instrument used in plays and performed rhythmic hits in string bands. ‘มะโหระทึก ’ (Mahorateuk) or Dong Son drum was the inspiration to this chair set.
